Farsightedness (Hyperopia) - The Symptoms, Causes And Who Is Affected
The eye condition hyperopia is more often known as long-sightedness or farsightedness. It is caused by a defect in the ability of the eyes to focus. When somebody is suffering with hyperopia, it means that they are incapable of focusing on things which are nearby, causing their vision to appear blurry. Suffers should still be able to focus in items in the distance.
Our vision is created through a process of light rays coming from an object and going through the cornea and lens, which are at the front of our eyes, that refract the light to focus it on the retina, at the rear of the eye. From here the light rays are translated into electrical signals. These signals are then sent to the brain, which decodes the signal and gives us vision.
As with normal sight, the images a person with farsightedness sees begin as light rays entering the eye through the cornea and lens, but instead of the light rays becoming focused onto the retina, their place of focus is behind the retina, outside of the eyeball itself.
This may be caused if the shape of the eye is not long enough, from front to back, keeping the light rays from being projected onto the retina. Hyperopia can also be caused by the cornea or lens. As the cornea and lens bend the light rays which enter our eyes, if they are incapable of directing the light at the right angle to focus on the retina then the vision will be impaired.
People suffering from farsightedness can be impacted in different ways, based on the life style lead and occupation they do. Someone with farsightedness might find themselves suffering with these everyday symptoms:
Tender and irritable eyes can be a consequence of the continuous struggle to view close objects and to write and read. Constantly staring, trying to bring objects into focus, will stop you from blinking, causing your eyes to grow dried out and feeling irritable.
Difficulty with focusing when reading books or newspapers is perhaps the most often thought of hyperopia symptoms. Many individuals find themselves attempting to hold things at arms length to try to get the contents into focus.
Eyestrain and headaches are regular for people with farsightedness and can result from the eyes being unable to focus on items nearby. Regular squinting may also occur, resulting in headaches and tension from the unnatural effort.
Hyperopia is often linked with the process of ageing. While this is true, the long-sightedness that takes place in middle age is named presbyopia and is a result of the lens of the eye losing its flexibility. Although this is part of the normal ageing process it is still important to go and get your eyesight checked by an optician.
Children may also suffer from hyperopia and some are even born with it. Often the condition will resolve itself as the child’s eyes develop. Though if not treated, farsightedness can cause other issues, lazy eyes for example.

Farsightedness (hyperopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see objects in the distance clearly, but objects nearby may be blurry. The degree of your farsightedness determines your focusing ability.
Eye Excercises To Avoid Farsightedness
This reminded me of my old office mate who has the eye condition called farsightedness or what is also known as hyperopia. Online, via YouTube, I got tips from a Japanese TV show how to avoid suffering eventually from that condition.
Hyperopia commonly known as farsightedness, is an eye condition where people have difficulty seeing close up objects. Vision may be good at a distance, but close up objects are blurred and out of focus.
How To Evade The Risks After Eye Surgery?
Lasik eye surgery or Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis is the newest and most successful surgery that utilizes a laser to reshape the cornea and improve vision. LASIK is used as an alternative to wearing corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses by many patients nowadays. Lasik surgery is safe and recovery is quick. The surgery lasts for around 15 minutes in most cases and the patient’s experience improved vision immediately. However, in some cases, patients require 6 months to stabilize their vision. Although, risks found after surgery are minimal, but patients are advised to take care of their eyes after surgery to avoid any complications later.
The following instructions are suggested to be followed by the patients after undergoing their eye surgery:
• Consult your doctor after the surgery to make sure that healing is done properly.
• The doctor may advise you to keep your eyes closed and relax them to avoid any pain. Once you wake up, you will notice improved vision.
• Do not rub or touch your eyes for at least one week as rubbing your eyes may cause irritation and cause complication to your eyes. Rubbing of eyes may damage the corneal flap which is already sensitive after the surgery.
• It is advisable to wear protective covering over the affected eye. You may be asked to wear dark shades or protective patch over the eye to avoid the risk of dust, air-borne germs infecting your eye.
• Your doctor may ask you to take some anti-inflammatory medicine or antibiotic for proper recovery of the eyes. It is important that the medication prescribed by the doctor be followed dutifully.
• Avoid taking showers after surgery. Just take baths and do not use spraying or any fluid directly to your eyes. Stay away from windy dusts and debris as possible as you can as this may aggravate your eye complications. Avoid swimming for 3 weeks following the surgery and then only when using eye protection until your eyes heal completely.
• Avoid reading, watching television, working in front of computer and bright lights after the eye surgery. This may cause strain to the eyes and intensify the problem leading to headaches also.
• Dry eye is a common symptom found after Lasik eye surgery. Consult your doctor if dry eyes persist for long time. Your doctor may give you eye drops which you have to use to avoid any risk.
• It is essential to visit your doctor post the surgery even if your eyes are completed healed. The doctor needs to monitor your progress closely to make sure that your eyes are healing properly. Do not miss your appointment with your doctor.
• Do not apply any eye makeup for at least one week after the surgery. Simply keep your eyes clean from any outside substance.

The Advantages of LASIK Surgery
LASIK is a kind of refractive eye surgery mainly done in US by highly qualified eye surgeons. This kind of eye surgery is mainly used to carry out in patients who need a change in the shape in the cornea.
LASIK eye surgery was introduced to aid the world in attaining better vision without the continued use of eyeglasses, bifocals, and contacts. The main drawback to this particular advancement in the field of vision is the cost involved.

Why Should You Get An Eye Exam?
There are many reasons you should choose to get an eye exam. Checking visual acuity, diagnosing for eye disorders, and checking your child for any developmental problems are three excellent reasons to visit your optometrist.
Visual Acuity
The eyeball takes in light rays and deflects them onto the retina in the back of the eye. In the normal eye, this deflection projects the image exactly onto the retina. If the eyeball is either too long or too wide, the image is projected either in front of or behind the retina, causing a reduction in acuity. If the eyeball is too long, and the image is projected behind the retina, the eye is said to have hyperopia, or be farsighted. This person can see far objects normally but has difficulty seeing objects close up. If the eyeball is too wide, the image is projected in front of the retina. This produces a condition called myopia, and the eye is said to be nearsighted. This person can see near objects normally but cannot see objects well at a distance. Visual acuity can be corrected with external lenses, either as glasses or contact lenses.
Developmental Problems
Children who have uncorrected vision problems often experience learning disabilities and can cause permanent loss of vision if left untreated. Strabismus is a misalignment of visual axes that can involve one or both eyes. The end result can cause esotropia (cross eye), exotropia (walleye), or amblyopia (lazy eye).
Diagnosis of any of these disorders must be made by an examination. Therefore, it is in your best interest to get vision checked at least every 1 to 2 years.
What Purpose Does an Eye Exam?
Well, the eye is one of the most important parts of your body. It is essential to protect the eye and keep it in good shape. The best way to determine the condition of the eye is to undergo regular eye exams.
We found out this evening that the babies’ eye exam will be repeated tomorrow. We are not really sure why - only know that there is an order for it so there must be cause for concern.
How often should have an eye exam?
I was wondering how often I should have an eye exam. I am 18 and got glasses last year for driving and distance because I am nearsighted. Your optician should have advised you when you should be checked.
Free Information About Texas Laser Eye Surgery
Good eyesight is very important for everyone who wishes to function at the most basic human level, and perform various activities. Those who have been blessed with impeccable eyesight might not appreciate it as much as those who are visually impaired do and the latter would surely be interested in ways to make their condition so much better. The invention of eye glasses and later on the contact lenses is a significant help in aiding people to see a little bit clearly but they are in no way cures to any visual affliction.
In recent history, the field of medicine has made a breakthrough that resulted to the discovery of the use of laser in treating visual disorders in humans. Laser eye surgery is considered as one of the best treatments for eye problems and the safest to boot. Many people all over the world are interested in undergoing this procedure because of the benefits that it offers and the relative safety of the operation. In many States such as Texas, there are several eye clinics that perform this type of surgery everyday with very astounding results that can be attested to by the patients themselves. Texas laser eye surgery is one of the most sought after procedures in the State, not to mention in the entire country. People are interested in getting better and they are more interested in having to go through it without blood and relatively less pain.
Going through Texas laser eye surgery can be a breeze, just as long as you are actually a qualified candidate for the treatment. This means that your condition should be treatable by laser surgery and that your corneas are not too thin for the procedure. Some patients are declined for the treatment because their eye conditions are not treatable by laser surgery so they will need to undergo a different type of treatment as per the advisement of their physicians.
The recovery process after the surgery should not be too complicated or too difficult since laser is a non-invasive procedure. However, you will still need to take it slow for the next few days after the surgery so you can be assured of its full effects. Do not be in too much hurry to use your eyes since you might inadvertently expose it to all sorts of infections and harmful elements. Protect your eyes at all times and do not touch it with your bare hands or subject it to too much heat or too much cold. Your eyes need to heal completely in order to function well after the surgery.
Caring for your eyes should also extend way beyond the post operation procedures. Remember that you were given a second chance to use your eyesight the way nature has intended it in the first place so make sure you do not squander it by subjecting your eyes to abuse such as too much television watching, video games, or late night reading with low lighting, etc. Make sure that you make the most out of your eyes and care for it like you would any part of your body.

Types of Coloured Contact Lenses
Colored contacts allow a person to change or enhance, his or her eye color. Until 2005, purchasing colored contact lenses did not require a prescription. However, the purchase of a color contact lens currently requires a prescription due to many incidents of adverse effects, and the potential for serious eye injury. These adverse events have been caused by improper fit, defective manufacturing, consumer misuse, and the transfer of of harmful bacteria.
Therefore, the color contact lens is no longer classified as an unregulated cosmetic device. They are regulated by the FDA as medical devices regardless of whether or not the contact lenses have any vision correction. Dealers that sell the color contact lens in the U.S. without requiring a prescription are in violation of the law.
Because of the chance of infection, cosmetic contacts should not be swapped between friends, or used by children without proper professional consultation. Cosmetic contact lenses need to be cleaned and cared for with the same diligence and care as corrective contacts, including appropriate disinfection, routine cleaning, and careful storage between use.
As with corrective lenses, coloured contacts are available in several varieties from twenty-four hour lenses to monthly lenses. Some coloured contact lenses provide additional protection against harmful ultraviolet radiation from sunlight. Colored lenses vary from regular corrective vision contact lenses in the addition of tints to the region of the contacts overlaying the iris. The iris is the naturally colored, circular part of the eye surrounding the dark pupil where light enters.
Four different types of tints are added. “visibility tint” simply makes the contact more visible for easier removal and insertion. Visibility tints do not change the eye color. Somewhat more pronounced in color, “enhancement tints” are designed to enhance the natural color of the iris. Enhancement tints are often used by people with light-colored eyes who wish to enhance their natural color.
The “color tints” are intense tints designed to significantly change the color of the iris. Colored tint lenses completely change a person’s eye color, as a someone might change her hair color. These contact lenses are also commonly used with holiday theatrical costumes, Halloween costumes, and sporting-event fan costumes.
The last category of lens tints, the “light-filtering tints“. These make objects of certain colors stand-out in bright light. These contact lenses are employed much like vision-enhancing sunglasses.
Whether a person’s reason for wearing contacts is purely cosmetic, purely corrective, or a mix of both, receiving a proper examination and prescription from a licensed professional is an essential first-step to ensuring long-term pleasure of the product without taking a chance of damaging your eyes.

How do You Insert Contact Lenses Properly?
Some of these include soft contact lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses, daily wear lenses, extended wear contacts, colored contact lenses and more.
You may want to look into colored contact lenses that are really striking. There are many bold colorful contacts that will definitely have a huge impact on anyone who gazes into them.
Equally, it could be that you want to attend a fancy dress party or Halloween Ball and you want something that will really set you apart from the crowd, well why not use some crazy colored contact lenses?
The Wavefront Lasik
Most people around the world today are familiar with the term Lasik (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) and know that it is some kind of vision correction surgery. However, many people don’t know that this specialized method of correcting vision with the use of a laser light uses different methods to achieve those goals.
For example, there is a method called Lasik, Epi-Lasik and Wavefront Lasik. While they all employ the use of the laser light beam to correct curvature of the cornea to improve eyesight, many people don’t understand the difference. Wavefront Lasik is also known as custom Lasik. It utilizes the use of three-dimensional measurements that show doctors how your individual eye processes images. Those measurements are imported into a computer system that guides the laser to reshape the front of your eye, or cornea.
The Wavefront Lasik method uses the three-dimensional map that is created to seek out and find every little nuance that makes your eyesight what it is. While you may be farsighted, another person who is farsighted may have different degrees of the condition than you, as well as accompanying factors. Wavefront Lasik enables each individual to receive specialized surgery to correct unique vision problems that are independent of everyone else’s.
This surgical method offers an increase in not only how much a person can see, but how well you can see, taking into consideration depth, peripheral vision and contrast sensitivity and contrast details as well. This surgery reduces the effect of post-operative halos and sensitivity to glare as well as increasing night vision acuity.
Wavefront is a new method of Lasik surgery that allows surgeons to provide extremely precise improvements to the shape of the cornea, which allows your eyes to better adjust and see near and far objects as well as improving depth and clarity. Such beneficial outcomes are not possible with the traditional use of eyeglasses or contact lenses, nor original forms of Lasik eye surgery.
Wavefront Lasik is recommended for people with astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia in degrees ranging from mild to moderate. While traditional vision correction methods such as eyeglasses and contact lenses can correct some problems, additional irregularities sometimes prevent optimal vision correction by these methods. Wavefront Lasik is able to not only perform the basic corrections, but also to enhance visual acuity, without cutting into the surface of the eye or requiring lengthy recovery time.
If you’re looking for a Lasik procedure, wait until you visit your eye doctor to discuss which method of Lasik he or she suggests for your vision correction problems. While Wavefront is capable of treating multiple vision issues, since the surgery is so individualized, you may have one or even several options open to you. Any kind of Lasik eye surgery is expensive, so make sure you get more than one professional consultation if possible to determine which course of treatment is best for your situation. Plan on spending at least $1,500 per eye for any kind of Lasik treatment, and ask if your vision insurance plan will help pick up a portion of the tab.
Wavefront Lasik is capable of increasing and improving eyesight in most candidates for the surgery, but always remember that your eyes are irreplaceable and care and caution must be practiced to ensure that you find the best Lasik method to suit your needs.
What is Wavefront Lasik Eye Surgery?
Wavefront lasik eye surgery is a very popular form of vision correction operation done today by many experienced lasik surgeons.
Different Types of Lasik Surgery
Wavefront Lasik is the most precise form of Lasik eye surgery. Much like IntraLasik, lasers replace blades during Wavefront Lasik.
Wavefront - Better Than Conventional LASIK Eye Surgery?
Traditional LASIK surgery achieves a simple correction of focusing power by reshaping the cornea with the aid of a laser.
Dedicated Lasik Eye Surgery with Monovision
Monovision offers an alternative solution, either through contact lenses or refractive surgery. Monovision eliminates the requirement of dual glasses by correcting individual eyes to different focal lengths. Normally, the dominant eye is focused for distance and the non-dominate eye is corrected for viewing closer images.
Monovision works by tricking the brain into believing that the contact lens is a part of the actual eye. Depending on their lifestyle and needs, patients can choose whether to correct both eyes for distance or blend their vision by having one eye corrected for distance sight and the other for near sight.
As the crystalline lenses of the eyes age, their capacity to focus (accommodate) at different distances naturally weakens and is sometimes lost. The result is a treatable condition known as Presbyopia, usually developing between the ages of 40-50.Presbyopia patients are unable to maintain focus on either near or distant objects and need glasses to help accommodate for their weaker focal length. The most common course of correction for Presbyopia is through bifocal glasses or through separate glasses with varying focal lengths to accommodate for both near and distance vision.Monovision offers an alternative solution, either through contact lenses or refractive surgery.
Eye dominance is established by which eye works slightly harder than the other and is very simple to determine. To verify which eye is dominant: keep both eyes open, hold out a thumb at eye level and block either an object or a word in the line of site with the thumb. Close one eye and then close the other.
The dominant eye is the one that did not see the object or word.Nearsighted adults, who use glasses to help see distant images, tend to be capable of up-close reading without glasses. By giving them 20/20 distance vision, they will lose their ability to adjust focal lengths and focus. These individuals will then likely need glasses for reading. It is important to realize that Monovision is meant to give you functional, not perfect, vision.
LASIK with Monovision is a breakthrough technology for Presbyopia treatment. Instead of relying on glasses or contacts to accomplish Monovision, surgeons strive to permanently achieve the same results through a customized LASIK procedure.A great option for undecided LASIK with Monovision candidates is to consult with eyecare professionals and sample contact lenses that will deliver comparable results to the surgical process. Keep in mind that the brain will need an adjustment period to relearn which eye is ideal for different tasks. To ensure the ultimate results, LASIK surgeons will always include a discussion of Monovision during pre-surgical consultations of candidates over the age of 40 who use bifocals or reading glasses to treat their Presbyopia.Patients over 50 who choose not to include Monovision in their LASIK procedure will likely need reading glasses post-LASIK surgery.
Lens Replacement Surgery is a possible alternative for patients over 50 who want to correct both near and distance vision, without a dependence on glasses or incorporating Monovision. For more information, speak with your eye-care professional.
What Can Monovision Lasik Do To You
The dominant eye for farsightedness and the other eye for near sightedness can be corrected by Monovision Lasik vision correction. Yes, that is right.
It happens right about when you hit the ripe old age of 40 or so. You start having to need to hold your book or the newspaper just a little bit further away from your eyes in order to see more clearly.
The basic definition of Monovision eye means short vision. This means that each eye works individually. Related Links. LASIK Surgery - Recovery, Risks, and Benefits; Is Vision Without Glasses a Scam?

Clue about Lasik Vision Correction
If you are looking for information about lasik vision correction, you will find the below related article very helpful. It provides a refreshing perspective that is much related to lasik vision correction and in some manner related to complications laser eye surgery, rezoom iol, optometry surgery or eye surgeon. It isn’t the same old kind of information that you will find elsewhere on the Internet relating to lasik vision correction. The downside of LASIK surgery is that it is not reversible; corrections must be made with additional treatment. LASIK eye surgery is also expensive. The treatment can cost as much as three thousand dollars per eye. While side effects are minimal, you could experience problems with your vision after undergoing LASIK. These side effects include glare, halos, star bursts, decreased night vision, and dry eye syndrome.
LASIK eye surgery is still considered new technology. Laser surgery is a refractive technology that reverses the effects of refractive errors in the eye. Pain is rare with LASIK, although some patients will experience some discomfort. Most Dallas patients have described a pressure sensation but no pain during LASIK eye surgery.
When visiting a LASIK surgeon, make sure to ask questions such as his experience on LASIK procedure and other refractive eye surgeries and how many people that achieved 20/20 or better after the surgery.
If as related to lasik vision correction as this article is and it still doesn’t answer all your needs, then don’t forget that you can conduct more search on any of the major search engines like Google.com to get more helpful lasik vision correction information.
As improvements are made and doctors are regulated the cost of LASIK surgery continues to drop, making it a possibility for some who could only dream of such improvement a few years back. Some surgeries are referred to as “blade less” or “custom” LASIK, meaning they are more efficient and tailored to the individual.
Some of the alternatives for LASIK eye surgery are PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) and LASEK (laser epithelial keratomileusis). LASEK is a newer procedure similar to PRK. There are also alternatives to laser eye procedures like Refractive Lens Exchange (your eye’s natural lens is replaced with an artificial one) or CK for Hyper myopia (Conductive keratoplasty). Conductive keratoplasty is a new procedure that uses heat form radio waves to shrink the collagen in the periphery of the cornea. It’s important to know that RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange) does not have U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval yet.
In LASIK surgery, a hinged corneal flap is cut by laser or blade (micro keratome) and then laser beams are used to remove the underlying corneal tissue and flap is repositioned. Nevertheless, in LASEK surgery, there is no hinged corneal flap formed. Instead, the surgeon will use a finer blade (trephine) and alcohol solution to loosen the edges of epithelium. After 30 seconds, a tiny hoe is used to lift the edge of epithelium and gently fold it back out of the way to allow laser beams to reshape the cornea. Then, the epithelial flap is replaced back to its position by using a kind of spatula.
A lot of well-meaning people searching for lasik vision correction also searched online for hypertension, cataract rezoom, and even contacts.

Even though a Lasik surgery is one of the vision correction procedures yet the huge part of the success is depending on you and your chosen Lasik doctor. T
Lasik - The Right Procedure For Your Eyes
People sometimes are afraid to undergo Lasik surgery in order to correct their vision because, most of the time, they are not aware of what exactly the benefits are.
Losing Vision?
Presbyopia or Loss of Vision?
One of the significant signs of vision loss occurs as a natural part of aging–presbyopia. This is a condition where changes to the elasticity of the crystalline lens of the eye begins to diminish and eye muscles grow weaker. This occurs as early as the age of forty in some adults. Generally, adults with presbyopia can be diagnosed by a licensed optician. It’s always wise to have an eye exam to determine the exact causes of loss of vision no matter what the degree of vision loss may be.
“Reading” Glasses
With the advent of constant computer use, changes to vision has become significantly increased as a result of excessive use of computer monitors. However, in adults with presbyopia, near vision is usually most affected. The typical font size of print becomes more difficult to read. Reading glasses have become an accepted and popular means of aiding near vision that is impaired. Non-prescription reading glasses are less expensive than prescription reading glasses. This is particularly cost-effective if the sole vision debilitation is related exclusively to reading fine print.
Growth in Popularity of Reading Glasses
Though the growth in popularity of reading glasses may be attributed to computer use and aging eyes, reading glasses are extensively designed for comfort and are available in various styles such as magnavision reading glasses, lighted reading glasses, designer reading glasses, bifocal reading glasses and more recently, contact lens reading glasses. There are
fashionable reading glasses to suit everyone’s taste and vision needs. Reading glasses are available in various strengths from .50 to 2.75 in most cases. It’s best to try to read fine print when determing the proper strength for reading glasses.
Non-Prescription Reading Glasses
Reading glasses do not require a prescription. Many bifocal reading glasses no line are a favorite of those who prefer to wear their fashionable reading glasses without having to constantly remove them. Rimless reading glasses and tinted reading glasses are a special fashion feature. For those with workplace issues, safety reading glasses suffice for compliance regulations. Foldable reading glasses and flip up reading glasses are a great convenience especially when traveling.
Designer Reading Glasses
Non-prescription reading glasses like John Lennon reading glasses, edell reading glasses, Dolce Gabbana reading glasses all reflect high style in designer glasses. Reading glasses make a fashion statement for any wardrobe when coordinated with style and colors of great appeal for men and women.
Eye Health - 9 Simple Ways to Keep Your
Even though the quality of the lens itself might not decline, protein build-up will make your vision less clear. Another thing to consider is that the longer you wear your lenses, the higher is your risk of eye infections.
A Stem-Cell Therapy for Blindness
These cells, called retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), are often the first to die off in age-related macular degeneration and other eye diseases, which in turn leads to loss of vision.
A miniature telescope mounted into a spectacle lens can now help people with vision loss from macular degeneration. The device, which is about the size of a pencil eraser, can improve vision by about three and a half lines on an eye.
